Downtown Bellingham paid parking to expand to nearby blocks

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Parking stalls in some areas already with posted time limits will transition to metered parking beginning the week of September 14, 2026, according to a notice posted by the City of Bellingham on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

The transition to metered parking will occur primarily in areas with existing time limits.

Marked stalls and parking meters will be installed over the next several weeks, according to the notice.

A portion of revenue from the parking meters will fund programs and improvements through organizations including Downtown Bellingham Partnership (DBP), according to the notice.
