Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday (POLL)

Daylight Saving Time runs from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November throughout the world. In the US, it is a federal law but states can request to be exempted. This year, Florida is looking to join Arizona and Hawaii by making the request.

Florida is looking to make Daylight Saving a permanent change. Their legislature recently approved the “Sunshine Protection Act,” which would ask the US Congress to allow Daylight Saving Time to be made permanent in Florida. It passed by a vote of 103-11 in the Florida House and 33-2 in the Florida Senate and is awaiting their governor’s signature.

Like these other states, not everyone sees value in moving clocks forward in the spring and backward in the fall. Moving clocks forward will likely result in the loss of an hour of sleep, making it more difficult to get out of bed for work or school for a while. But it also provides an extra hour of sunlight at the end of the day.
