FERNDALE, Wash. — Whatcom County Council met last night, February 9th, and held a public hearing regarding an ordinance to close a section of road adjacent to Tony’s Tavern, located at 2920 Main Street in Custer.
The temporary closure will allow the business to open an outside dining area as a means of expanding their capacity to serve customers. The family-owned business made the request after prolonged restrictions due to State mandates in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that have required it to either be closed or operate at reduced capacity.
There was 1 person, Larry McDonough of Bellingham, who spoke in favor of the ordinance during the public hearing. There were no other speakers.
The Council then approved the ordinance by a unanimous vote.
