Coastal flood advisory issued for Whatcom County

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — The Seattle office of the National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for western Whatcom and Skagit County coastal areas.

The advisory will be in effect from 3am to 9am tomorrow, Saturday, December 14th.

Minor coastal flooding expected. Inundation of around 2 feet above ground level is possible along shorelines and low-lying coastal areas.

Minor coastal flooding due to tidal overflow is expected around high tide. This may lead to flooding of parking lots, parks, and roads, with only isolated road closures expected.

Highest impacts will occur in the hours near high tide at around 6 AM. Winds and waves may locally exacerbate impacts, particularly along south and southeast-facing shorelines.
