The mechanical systems that keep the fountain running at Centennial Riverwalk Park have been revamped this year, resulting in nearly a month’s delay for running the fountain.

As of today, though, the fountain has resumed running. Today it will shut off at 7pm and City Public Works staff will assess if it is running as expected. If so, it will begin running on a 9am to 8pm schedule.

According to City staff, the revamped system is expected to better handle the stuff that gets sucked into it when it rains or the winds blow. In the past, the filtration system could get overwhelmed resulting in low pressure and extra wear on the pumps.
