BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bellingham Police Department (BPD) is asking for community assistance in locating a vulnerable missing adult.
BPD says 79-year-old James McCaleb, left his residence at noon on Saturday, July 25, 2026, and has not returned. This is reportedly very unusual for him.
He has gray/white hair, a full beard and is 5’8”/275 lbs. He was last seen wearing a dark short-sleeved shirt, dark sweatpants, black shoes and a Navy Veteran’s baseball cap. He has serious medical conditions for which he requires medication, which he has missed.
He is frequently seen walking in the downtown area, on Cornwall Ave. all the way to Bellingham High School. We have search and rescue volunteers out looking for James. He has no car and walks everywhere.

Photos showing him pushing a cart were taken as he was leaving his residence Saturday.
Anyone who has information about McCaleb’s location is asked to immediately call 911.
