Bellingham Police report 2 fatal crashes occurred late yesterday

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to 2 unrelated fatal crashes in Bellingham within an hour late yesterday, September 28th.

About 7:55pm, first responders were dispatched to the intersection of E Sunset Drive (Mt Baker Hwy/SR542) and Chance Road due to a report of a car versus bicyclist crash.

The road was closed between Britton Road and Dewey Road while Bellingham Police investigated.

About 8:45pm, first responders were dispatched to the intersection of Woburn Street and Yew Street due to a report of a rollover crash. Initial unconfirmed reports were of 2 vehicles racing when 1 lost control and went into a tree, ending up on its side.

Yew Street was closed between Woburn and Carolina Streets while Bellingham Police investigated.

As of 3am today, September 29th, Bellingham Police confirmed both crashes involved fatal injuries but details were not immediately available.
