Wrong-way driver sentenced to over 6 years in prison

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Annastacia Dee Lough, age 23 and of Bothell, pled guilty to a felony charge of vehicular homicide and was sentenced on November 13th to 78 months (6.5 years) in prison followed by 18 months in community custody.

The charge followed an investigation into a fatality crash that occurred on February 1, 2022, in the southbound lanes of I-5 north of the Nulle Road interchange. It was determined Lough was driving a 2007 Lexus sedan northbound in the southbound lanes when she crashed head-on into a 1998 Toyota Avalon driven by a 31-year-old Bothell woman.

The Toyota driver was declared deceased at the scene. Lough was transported by a medic unit to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center.

Investigators said the event data recorder in the Lexus showed it had been traveling at about 76mph for the 4 seconds prior to the crash without slowing.

The investigation determined Lough had a blood alcohol level of 0.19 g/100mL and an active THC content of 3.5 +/- 0 .9 ng/mL. The blood alcohol limit for driving in Washington state is 0.08 and the active THC content limit is 5.0.

Lough’s community custody terms included requirements to not possess or consume alcohol or controlled substances, including marijuana, without a valid prescription. Lough will also be prohibited from patronizing or working at any business where the primary business is the sale of alcohol.
