Ferndale Chamber of Commerce announces interim director
The Ferndale Chamber of Commerce announced Megan Juenemann has been hired to serve as their interim executive director. Former Executive Director Anya Milton recently vacated the position to take a position with Bellingham Technical College.
A press release said Juenemann began her new role on September 6th and is expected to retain it until the end of the year or at such time the Chamber board of directors appoint an executive director.
According to Juenemann’s LinkedIn profile, she graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. She had the title of director of marketing and communication with Jamie Shannon, Life Coach for Teens, in Bellingham beginning 2016.
Lynden office of Brown & Brown Insurance adds to its ranks
The Lynden office of Brown & Brown, located at 501 Front Street, announced that Stephen Couldry has joined their office. According to the announcement, Couldry will work with local businesses to develop employee benefits strategies to meet the needs of both the business and employees. Couldry also will provide advice and resources to support employers, CFOs and HR directors in their efforts to provide employee benefit solutions to their employees and their family members.
A Lynden resident, Couldry is a youth leader at Blaine Christian Fellowship and volunteers for several at-risk youth non-profits.
Whatcom Land Title Co. opening fourth branch in Ferndale
Ferndale will soon join the list of Whatcom Land Title branches which currently includes Bellingham, Blaine and Lynden with the opening of a new branch at 5616 3rd Avenue in Ferndale.
According to a recent press release, the Ferndale branch will open Monday, October 3rd, and the branch’s hours will be 8am to 5pm on weekdays.
The Ferndale branch will be staffed with title and escrow officers and assistants, recording officers and other support staff. Dave Paulette, title manager for the whole company, will be the Ferndale branch manager.
Evergreen Goodwill partners with Comcast to open Lift Zone high-tech learning space in Bellingham, grand opening planned
Evergreen Goodwill and Comcast are prepared to help of families across Whatcom County access online resources and digital skills needed for education and employment with free WiFi, access to laptop computers and more at the recently opened Lift Zone & Community Space.
The Lift Zone was made possible through a Comcast investment of more than $100,000 and it is located at Evergreen Goodwill’s Whatcom County Job Training and Education Center.
According to Comcast, a Lift Zone is a facility primarily designed to help provide low-income individuals with a safe, clean space to participate in distance learning during the day or to do homework before or after school. However, adults, seniors and veterans can also use the site for remote work, to look for or apply for a job, or learn digital skills.
The space features new, cutting-edge technology enhancements and will be used for a variety of online and hybrid meetings, nonprofit community partner programming, and soon, online and hybrid job training classes.
The grand opening for the new Lift Zone in Bellingham is scheduled from noon to 3pm on Thursday, September 29th at Evergreen Goodwill’s Whatcom County Job Training & Education Center, 1115 E Sunset Drive in Bellingham.
