Original Story
The most recent forecast for the Nooksack River level at Ferndale has lowered the expected height of the river when cresting later today, November 18th. It was expected to crest above flood stage (19 feet) but as of the forecast at 11pm last night it is not expected to get above that point, cresting at about 18.7 feet instead.
This forecast crest level is about one foot above the crest level during last weekend’s flood event.
Several Ferndale area roads have already closed due to water over the roadway. They include
- Barrett/Paradise Roads
- Marine Drive from Lummi Shore Drive to Rural Avenue
- Ferndale Road north of Marine Drive
While Slater Road has not been closed yet (as of 4am), with the forecast river level it could be expected to be closed at some point today.
