The forecast for what level the Nooksack River would crest at Ferndale has been dropping for the last 24 hours. But that’s changed as the forecast has gone from 18.1 feet to 18.9 feet (19 feet is flood stage).
That’s not a hard forecast to believe since the river was already at 18.7 feet at 3pm today, November 18th. The forecast estimates the river will crest around 9pm and fall to below 17 feet overnight.
Earlier this afternoon, Slater Road was closed due to water over the roadway. County crews will assess the road’s condition in the morning before reopening.
Several other Ferndale area roads were already closed due to water over the roadway. They include
- Barrett/Paradise Roads
- Marine Drive from Lummi Shore Drive to Rural Avenue
- Ferndale Road north of Marine Drive
