Victim Identified as Lummi School Teacher

Lummi Nation School logoLummi Nation School today announced that Michael Jordan, found murdered in his Bellingham home yesterday, July 19th, along with his 17-month old son, was a teacher at their school.

Lummi Nation School is deeply sadden by the loss of an incredibly dedicated and beloved teacher. Our thoughts, prayers and love go out the family and to the students and staff of the Lummi Nation School. The LNS administration would like to ask that we continue to keep our children in your thoughts and prayers as we continue to keep you updated and current about additional information related to this tragedy. LNS administration will be meeting with LIBC Behavioral Health and school counseling staff in the morning to coordinate grief counseling. We have been in contact with the The family to express our profound sorrow and deepest condolence. Please continue to hold them in your thoughts and prayers as well. A remembrance gathering has been scheduled for today, July 20th, at 4pm in the Lummi High School Gymnasium.

According to a KIRO news story, “Jordan began working with special needs students there in about 2007.” Also, the woman who police say admitted to the murders “had been an intervention specialist at the school as well until two years ago when she left during her pregnancy to be a full-time mother.”
