FERNDALE, Wash. — My Ferndale News (MFN) learned today that, contrary to previous arrangements made and permissions granted, a live-stream video feed of Wednesday’s memorial service for former Ferndale Police Chief and Ferndale resident Michael Knapp would not be made available to its readers.

According to organizers at Christ the King Church, Behind the Badge, an organization that has undertaken to orchestrate the memorial service, granted rights to the video feed to a Seattle media outlet and MFN will therefore not be permitted to publish it.

We apologize to our readers for this unexpected disappointment.

While Wednesday’s procession begins just outside of Ferndale and proceeds away from town into Bellingham where the memorial will be held, residents of Ferndale will still notice flags lining Main Street between 8am and 4pm on Wednesday in memory of Chief Knapp. Flags will be set up and taken down courtesy of volunteers with the Ferndale Kiwanis.

Washington State and United States flags at state agency facilities are to be lowered Wednesday and remain at half-staff in memory of Chief Knapp until close of business or sunset Wednesday according to a directive from Governor Jay Inslee. Other government and public entities and citizens are encouraged to do the same.

I’m disappointed that Behind the Badge made a move like this.

Does this mean that there won’t be live feed at North County Christ the King??

You would have to ask them.
