BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the 2700 block of Northshore Road at 12:50pm today, May 3rd, due to a report of a semitruck trailer that had rolled on the road.

Whatcom News learned the truck had just delivered a cow and was heading northbound on Northshore Road with lambs and a deer in the trailer when the truck and trailer left the east side of the road and overturned.

North Whatcom Fire & Rescue Fire Chief Jason Van der Veen said the driver was treated and released at the scene with only minor injuries.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Deb Slater told Whatcom News that as of 3pm the road remained closed and they were still investigating the cause.

The driver told Whatcom News he was concerned for the animals he said were in the trailer, “I hope they’re okay.”
