Fire danger remains very high.
All outdoor burning is prohibited during this ban, including yard debris fires, land clearing fires and recreational fires.
It was July 13th when a similar burn ban was enacted last year.
Fire danger is moderate and fires over 4-foot in diameter will require written permits and fires under 4-foot will require a general permit.
The Fire Marshal's Office advises to continue to use extreme caution with outdoor fires since vegetation is still recovering from the long stretch of dry weather and is susceptible to fire spread.
Unincorporated areas of Whatcom County and Lummi Island continue to be under Stage 2 burn bans.
Recreational fires, within limits, will still be permitted.
The ban went into effect January 13th due to forecasts of too much smoke in the Columbia Valley.
