Sunday high wind watch upgraded to a warning

stock graphic - high wind warning sqThe high wind watch issued yesterday was upgraded to a high wind watch this afternoon, foretelling of wind gusts to 70mph.According to the National Weather Service’s high wind warning,

South winds will rise Sunday afternoon with the strongest winds… 20 to 40 mph [sustained] with gusts to 70 mph… expected late Sunday afternoon and evening. Winds will shift to west to southwest early Sunday evening. Winds will gradually diminish through late Sunday evening.

The saturated ground increases the risk of falling trees during storms this strong. Trees weaken by the latest windstorm may also be vulnerable to falling.
