Subject sought after high-speed early morning pursuit

About 1:40am this morning, a few neighbors woke to Ferndale Police cruisers driving down Douglas Road with lights and sirens.

According to Ferndale Police Sergeant Travis Card, a FPD officer observed a vehicle as it was traveling at 60-80mph in the 2300 block of Thornton Road, a 25mph road. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle for reckless driving, the driver began to elude the officer. Other officers took positions to assist in stopping the vehicle until they ended up in the Lamplighter Mobile Home Park at 2392 Douglas Road. Officers blocked the exits as the suspect drove recklessly through the park. The driver then fled their vehicle on foot.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a K-9 unit assisted in an unsuccessful search for the suspect.

The vehicle’s owner contacted Ferndale Police later to report the vehicle as stolen.
