WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — The National Weather Service Seattle office issued a winter weather advisory for the Olympics and the west slopes of the Cascades today, Thursday, January 4th.
Snow levels will begin around 3000 feet Friday evening then fall to 1500 to 2000 feet by Saturday afternoon. National Weather Service Seattle office (January 4, 2024)
The advisory period is between 4pm tomorrow and 4am on Sunday.
According to the advisory statement, snow is expected above 2,000 feet with 36-hour accumulations of 9 to 15 inches across the Cascades and near Hurricane Ridge in the Olympics. Higher amounts of up to 2 feet are expected in the higher elevations including the Mount Baker ski area.
In addition to the snow, winds gusting up to 40mph are expected.
