Whatcom County Public Works announced today they are closing Slater Road by 4pm today, February 1, 2021 due to water over the roadway.
The closure follows heavy local rains with a forecast for more over the next 24 hours.
Traffic will be detoured via Imhof Road and LaBounty Drive to Main Street.
No official estimate has been given for when the road will be reopened.
Slater Road closures typically result in an dramatic increase in traffic on Main Street. Drivers should be prepared for delays and consider alternate routes to avoid Main Street.
