GLACIER, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 11:30am on Tuesday, November 7th, due a report of a crash on Mount Baker Highway (SR542) between milepost 50 and 51. The location is about 16 miles east of Glacier and 3 miles west of the ski area.
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) reported this was a single-vehicle fatality crash and the vehicle is 300 feet off the road in a ravine.
As of 1pm, WSP said the roadway was not closed but motorists can expect to encounter troopers on scene in the area investigating.
About 1:30pm, Washington State Department of Transportation said motorists can expect alternating traffic through a single lane with the possibility of a full road closure during the vehicle recovery process.
WSP Trooper Kelsey Harding told Whatcom News a passerby called 911 after noticing the car down the ravine but they did not see the crash occur so it is unknown when the crash actually happened.
