EVERSON, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the 7300 block of Everson-Goshen Road in Everson on January 6, 2025, at about 5:20pm due to reports of a 3-vehicle crash with injuries and a driver fleeing from the crash on foot.
Officials with Whatcom County Fire District #1 reported about 6:40pm, “There were no reported fatalities and several people were transported to the hospital out of precaution.”
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) partially closed the road while they completed an investigation. Motorists were encouraged to avoid that section of Everson-Goshen Road.
Officials with the Everson Police Department reported about 6:40pm they were still on the scene and the road was expected to be closed about 2 to 3 hours while WSP conducted its investigation. They announced a lane had been reopened at 7:45pm and all lanes were reopened at 9pm.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding told Whatcom News that 2 occupants from 1 of the 3 passenger vehicles were transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center with injuries.
Harding said a driver did leave the scene on foot but returned and assisted WSP troopers with the investigation. That driver, age 46, was arrested and booked into the Whatcom County Jail charged with vehicular assault.
According to Whatcom County Superior Court records, he was scheduled to make a preliminary appearance on January 7, 2026. According to jail records, he was released under his own personal recognizance after the court appearance.
