FERNDALE, Wash. — A Ferndale School District (FSD) bus was being backed up this morning, December 20th, when the right-rear tires dropped into a ditch adjacent to the road. As a result, the bus became disabled. Law enforcement were dispatched to the scene about 7:30am.

According to a FSD spokesperson, the bus was performing a turnaround maneuver that involved backing into W 95th Terrace from Delta Line Road when it became disabled.

None of the 13 students on the bus nor the driver were injured according to the spokesperson. The students were transferred to another bus and either got to their destinations on-time or soon after.

The incident occurred while picking up students destined for Horizon Middle School and Ferndale High School. The FSD Transportation Department will be contacting families of students who were on the bus so any concerns can be addressed.

As per FSD policy, the driver will undergo a drug and alcohol test, the spokesperson said.
