FERNDALE, Wash. — A flurry of vandalism targeting bus stop signage over the past 3 months has cost Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) about $5,000 according to WTA spokesperson Maureen McCarthy.

The vandalism has been repeated in some locations after damaged signs were replaced.

This is unique to the Ferndale area according to McCarthy.

WTA signs along Vista Drive and in historic downtown Ferndale have been targeted according to City of Ferndale Communications Officer Riley Sweeney.

Sweeney added that Ferndale Police are asking the public to call 911 or email Sergeant Kevin Davis if they see someone vandalizing signs or have information regarding the vandalism.
