Nature’s Touch Frozen Foods West Inc. announced yesterday, June 18th, it has begun voluntarily recalling Signature Select Avocado Chunks (frozen) due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
According to the announcement, the company was informed by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) that a routine sampling program found a positive result for Listeria monocytogenes in one sample bag of the product.
There had been no reported illnesses associated with the product as of yesterday’s announcement.
The product was distributed in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wyoming, Texas and Utah and at these following banner stores:

- Pak N Save
Product subject to the recall is Signature Select Avocado Chunks (frozen) in a 12oz bag with a UPS of 2113009412 and a best before date of “OCT 11 20.” The UPC and best before information are located on the back of the packaging.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Consumers who have purchased the Product are advised to discard or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
