Ferndale neighbors in select neighborhoods can expect a visit from representatives from Puget Sound Energy (PSE) as they undertake a door-to-door campaign.
According to PSE Energy Efficiency Outreach Manager Pinky Vargas, select neighborhoods around Ferndale will be visited by PSE representatives offering to share information about their free Home Energy Assessments program and schedule energy assessments. Representatives do not need to enter the homes since they are simply sharing information and scheduling the free assessments, Vargas told the Ferndale City Council during their meeting last night.
The door-knocking is expected to begin today, Tuesday, July 19th and continue through the 21st. Representatives will be wearing matching orange PSE gear with ID badges (see picture).
Targeted neighborhoods are those west of Vista Drive, south of Thornton Street, east of Church Road and north of Main Street as well as those in and around the Poplar neighborhood. Canvassers will be visiting nearly 750 single-family residences, not apartments or condominiums.
Any qualified residence can sign up for an assessment by visiting pse.com/energyassessment or calling 1-855-973-1575.
According to the PSE website,
When customers sign up for our Home Energy Assessment program, a certified member of our team will help them find ways to lower their energy bill and identify efficiency upgrade opportunities, while focusing on improving the comfort and value of their homes. Qualified customers may also receive up to 20 LEDs, two showerheads and four water-conserving kitchen and bathroom aerators for faucets.
Customers sometimes see this program as ‘too good to be true,’ but we remind them that it’s a free, convenient service that only requires 60 to 90 minutes of their day.
“This free program is a great way for us to engage face-to-face with our customers and help them find ways to be more energy efficient,” said Luke Giustra, Energy Efficiency Services program manager.
Ferndale is just one of many other cities in Washington being visited in this way.
