Several fire and aid units responded shortly after 5am to what was originally a smoke investigation in the area of Lampman and Olson Roads. The smoke led them to an equine facility in the 3000 block of Upland Way.

According to Whatcom County Fire District 7 Division Chief Dean Crosswhite, upon arriving in the area, they followed the smoke to a small mobile home that was fully involved. Fortunately, it was unoccupied and had only recently been placed on the property according to Crosswhite. No injuries were reported.

The fire was extinguished by first response crew. The Whatcom County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
