Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Jeff Parks told Discover Ferndale the stabbing victim was transported to the hospital with self-inflicted stab wounds. The incident is still under investigation.

10:50pm
Aid has been called and police are investigating a reported stabbing. Based on radio traffic between What-Comm dispatch and law enforcement, the victim is located in the area of West Smith Road and Bel West Drive while a search for a subject is happening in the area of Slater Road and Imhof Road. It is possible but unknown if these are connected.

11:10pm
Aid took a victim to the hospital (ID and condition unknown) and law enforcement have established a perimeter and are continuing to search the area around Slater Road and Imhof Road for a subject. Details are not likely to be available until later tomorrow morning.

11:45pm
After replaying earlier radio transmissions between law enforcement and What-Comm dispatch, the search in the area of Imhof Road and Slater Road appears to be the result of a driver that fled a traffic stop. Not apparently related to the stabbing reported on Bel West Road at about the same time.

12:00pm
Report of “one detained in the barn.” All perimeter units were cleared with a “thanks for all your help.”
