Ferndale Police and other law enforcement agencies swarmed the downtown Ferndale area this morning after midnight in response to a report of an attempted armed robbery.

Ferndale Police Lieutenant Bill Hatchett said a male, possibly Hispanic and with his face covered, walked into the Ferndale Mini Market at 2085 Main Street and showed a handgun to the clerk. The clerk did not immediately comply and, when a customer walked into the store, the suspect fled. The suspect did not leave with any property, Hatchett said.

A K-9 track was conducted, but the suspect was not located.

The suspect has not yet been identified and the case remains under investigation.
