FERNDALE, Wash. — City staff made a presentation to Ferndale City Council members during last night’s meeting that showed how plans were being made for a private project that, if completed, could result in a drive-through espresso business on the pad that was the former location of the Ferndale Bob’s Burgers & Brew restaurant.

Located at 1781 Main Street, between Main Street and the Mt Baker Lanes building, the building was demolished last September by the property owner to encourage more opportunities for future development.

Assistant Planner Jesse Ashbaugh told the Council that the applicant was applying for permits to build a second Ferndale Cruisin’ Coffee location.

Bellingham-based Cruisin’ Coffee has a Ferndale location at 5885 Portal Way that has been open since 2011. There are a total of 13 locations across Washington state according to their website.

Ashbaugh said they are still early in the process with the applicant having met recently with the City’s technical review committee, a first step towards getting a building permit.
