Local photographer Tom Larsen says he took these pictures yesterday afternoon after noticing some of the birds on the water appeared larger than the others.
“I saw a flock of American White Pelicans on Lummi Bay across from Sandy Point and was able to get a few photos just after another pair took flight and headed towards the Bellingham area,” Larson said in an email.

This is not the first time pelicans have been seen in the area. Photographer Travis Church shared his photos in 2016.
