North Cascades Highway to close again due to wildfire activity

DIABLO, Wash. — Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) officials announced that the North Cascades Highway (SR20) will be closed to all traffic beginning at 8am on Sunday, August 4th.

🔥HEADS UP: The Easy Fire has picked up closer to SR 20. The road will close from Granite Creek to Easy Pass trailhead (MP 148-157) at 8AM Sunday (8/4) so fire crews can safely work. No estimated reopening time.

The closure will resume between Granite Creek (milepost 148) and Easy Pass trailhead (milepost 157) due to increased fire activity.

This stretch of the highway has been closed and reopened multiple times since a lightning-caused wildfire, identified as the Easy fire due to its proximity to Easy Pass, was detected on July 17th.
