UPDATED: Outage hits NE Ferndale and Custer areas

FERNDALE/CUSTER, Wash. — Puget Sound Energy (PSE) reported a power outage in northeast Ferndale and extending into the Custer area began about 6:30pm tonight, October 11th.

No cause was immediately blamed for the outage which PSE reports impacting 1,159 customer addresses.

As of 6:40pm, PSE was estimating power would be restored by 9pm.

Update 7:30pm: PSE reported power had been restored. A PSE official told Whatcom News the outage was the result of a squirrel that made contact near a breaker.
