FERNDALE, Wash. — Ferndale Motel 6, located at 5671 Riverside Drive, is under new management and they are embracing the opportunity to put rooms at the facility through what they referred to as a “deep-cleaning” and are not accepting new guests over the next few weeks as a result.

Washington State Department of Health (DOH) spokesperson Julie Graham said there were several findings at the facility during a recent DOH inspection. But, she said, none of the findings were so severe as to require management to stop accepting guests.

The new managers, Joshua Friend and Tylor Martin, say they have several years of hospitality industry experience and are intent on addressing the DOH inspection findings which they attributed to neglect by previous management.

Martin noted they do have some long-term guests who are contractors working nearby who will continue to stay during the deep cleaning process.

The goal is to return to normal business operations within a few weeks, Martin said.
