
3 weeks of road closures are expected to allow for replacing a culvert under Northwest Drive and repaving portions of Northwest Drive and Slater Road according to Whatcom County Public Works (WCPW). Work is scheduled to begin Monday, August 24th.
WCPW officials estimate Northwest Drive will remain closed until September 11th but the closure could be extended as it is weather dependent. Repaving of Northwest Drive is expected be done during the closure period. Repaving of Slater Road between Northwest Drive and Pacific Highway is expected to done “the week of Labor Day” according to WCPW. WCPW staff were not in their offices today, due to county-wide scheduled employee furloughs, to immediately clarify exactly what dates that referred to.
