DEMING, Wash. — Whatcom County Public Works announced today, December 9th, repairs on Mosquito Lake Road at the Porter Creek bridge approach have been completed and the road reopened to traffic.

Approximate location of Mosquito Lake Road and Porter Creek

The road had been closed after a log jam formed during the mid-November flood event causing Porter Creek to overflow its banks which then damaged the approach to the bridge and adjacent roadway.

Mosquito Lake Road is a 14-mile stretch of road that connects Valley Highway (SR9) with Mount Baker Highway (SR542).

Motorists are advised to expect some cleanup work today but no further closures.
