WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters with the National Weather Service Seattle office issued a coastal flood advisory today, Wednesday, December 27th, for tomorrow due to the potential for minor tidal flooding.
The advisory is in effect tomorrow from 5am to 10am.
The advisory area includes San Juan County and western Whatcom and Skagit Counties along with much of the Puget Sound region.
According to the advisory, “Inundation of up to 2.0 feet above ground level is possible along shorelines and low-lying coastal areas. Minor coastal flooding due to tidal overflow is expected around high tide. This may lead to flooding of parking lots, parks, and roads, with only isolated road closures expected.”
A 10-foot high tide is forecast for 7 :30am tomorrow at Cherry Point. Sustained southeast winds of 17 to 33mph are currently expected around that time.
