M2.7 earthquake reported near Darrington this morning

An earthquake registering magnitude 2.7 was reported by seismologists about 3am this morning, April 7th.

The earthquake was centered about 3.5 miles northwest of Darrington, approximately 60 miles southwest of Ferndale. Reports indicate it occurred at a depth of about 9 miles.

Earthquakes in the magnitude range of 2 to 4 are considered “minor.” Minor earthquakes are likely only detectable by people in the nearby vicinity.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage from the earthquake.
