Lynden school’s book fair helps rebuild flood-damaged Sumas school library

LYNDEN, Wash. — Officials at Bernice Vossbeck Elementary (BVE) in Lynden said today they were donating a portion of their recent book fair proceeds to help the neighboring Sumas Elementary library replace materials lost during the recent flooding.

This was BVE Librarian Jen Frombly’s first book fair at the school and it had a strong turnout according today’s announcement. It was the largest Scholastic book fair in the history of the school. Frombly took the fair’s success and made the donation.

“I have been looking for tangible ways to help the families affected by the floods,” Frombly is quoted as saying in the announcement. “By donating Scholastic Dollars, the librarian there will be able to order what is needed, when it is needed.”

The November BVE book fair generated about $9,500 in sales according to school officials. The school receives 50% of that back in Scholastic Dollars for the school to purchase more books and BVE donated $2,500 worth of their earned Scholastic Dollars to Sumas Elementary.
