Local groups benefit from annual Lummi Nation grants

The Lummi Nation recently awarded more than $315,000 to 35 organizations in Whatcom County and Washington State according to a press release. These grants are given annually to organizations focused on serving and strengthening the local community according to the release.

According to the press release, Ferndale area grant recipients included the Ferndale Golden Eagle Booster Club (FGEBC) and the Boys & Girls Club of Whatcom County (B&GCWC) was said to have received one of the largest grants this year.

Chairman Timothy Ballew II of the Lummi Indian Business Council was quoted in the release as saying, “We are honored to be able to support the good work of important community organization. We are all better off when everyone in Whatcom County can thrive.”

A request for a list of the grant recipients this year went unanswered.
