Lightning and a little rain close an unseasonably warm Monday

A relatively small squall cruised by the shoreline west of Ferndale tonight (see radar graphic below) bringing with it lightning and thunder as well as some rain. This provided a somewhat dramatic close to a day that brought temperatures in the high 80s around Ferndale.

According to a local weather monitoring station, the high today in Ferndale was 89.5° which was reached at about 4:40pm.

According to the WeatherBug Spark Alert service, there were lightning occurrences about ten miles west of Ferndale off of Cherry Point a little past 9pm.

Tomorrow’s forecast for the Ferndale area is for a cooler temperatures and a high below 70°.
