It is fair to call the response from Whatcom County Fire District 7 “large,” as there were over ten fire apparatus dispatched to a report of smoke in the building about 3:15pm today to the Hempler Foods Group facility location on Nielsen Road.
Fortunately, according to WCFD7 Division Chief Justin Iverson, by the time they arrived, employees had put out what Iverson described as “a small chimney fire.”
Employees were evacuated for a short while as firefighters investigated the fire.
