Soccer Fest 2018, an international soccer tournament held at different locations around the nation each year, has brought over 100 soccer teams from all over the nation to our area including some from other countries. The tournament is being held at the Phillips 66 Soccer Park located at W Smith Road and Northwest Drive. Play began on Wednesday, July 11th and continues through Sunday.
The Washington State Adult Soccer Association says Soccer Fest is the largest affiliated adult soccer tournament in the US. The event is being jointly hosted by Whatcom Sports and Recreation and Washington State Adult Soccer Association.
Formerly known as the Veterans Cup Tournament, the tournament was founded in Bellingham in 1998. The event features women’s and men’s teams from open to over-70.
Last year’s tournament was held in Nashville, Tennessee and included 125 teams.
