High winds expected later today

Locally windy conditions developed today and are expected to increase in the Ferndale area since it is exposed to Fraser Valley outflow.

A high pressure area over British Columbia is sliding southward and to the east of the Cascades tonight. That is expected to result in increased northeast winds from the Fraser Valley outflow. According to weather forecast computer models, winds are expected to be blustery but mild later this afternoon when gusts around 40mph are possible. No advisory had been issued by the National Weather Service as of 9:30am but forecasters say they are monitoring conditions today in case one is needed.

Winds are expected to ease on Monday.
