WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — The National Weather Service Seattle office issued a flood watch today, Monday, March 16, 2026, for counties in north and central western Washington.
…FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON…
- WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
- WHERE…Portions of northwest and west central Washington, including the following counties, in northwest Washington, Skagit and Whatcom. In west central Washington, King and Snohomish.
- WHEN…From Wednesday afternoon through Friday afternoon.
- IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
High snow levels, heavy rainfall and snowmelt runoff will lead to rises on the rivers with flooding possible.You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

As of 9:30am, Nooksack River level forecasts have the river cresting at gauge locations at or below Action Levels which are below Minor Flood levels.
UPDATE: As of 2:30pm, , Nooksack River level forecasts have the river cresting at gauge locations at or below Action Levels except at the Ferndale gauge location.



River level forecasts can change frequently so motorists and property owners are advised to monitor the Nooksack River level forecast.
