Flu illness has begun circulating in Washington communities according toe Washington State Department of Health officials.
“Last year was one of the most severe flu seasons on record for Washington, and data just released shows only 61 percent of Washington children and teens were vaccinated. It’s important for us to protect each other this year. Flu vaccine is available everywhere. Don’t wait – get the vaccine for protection now,” according to Dr. Kathy Lofy, State Health Officer.
Last flu season, 296 people in Washington died from influenza-related conditions and 1000s were sickened, many requiring hospitalization.
In Ferndale, flu shots are offered at Haggen Pharmacy, Walgreens and Rite Aid stores, all located on Main Street, with no appointment necessary.
The Ferndale School District is providing a flu shot clinic on October 1st on the Ferndale High School campus. Click here for details.
