Haxton Way fatal motorcycle crash remains under investigation

FERNDALE, Wash. — As previously reported, first responders were dispatched to the 4800 block of Haxton Way about 4:45pm on Friday, January 23, 2026, due to report of a motorcycle vs vehicle serious injury crash. As a result of the subsequent investigation, the road remained closed until about 9pm.

Today, January 29, 2026, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) told Whatcom news some additional details via email.

According to WCSO, deputies were called to assist in investigating the crash. It occurred on Haxton Way in front of the casino’s south parking lot entrance. The crash involved a motorcyclist and an SUV. The motorcyclist was declared deceased on scene. The other motorist suffered minor injuries.

This is still an active investigation.

The incident occurred in Lummi Nation Police Department’s jurisdiction. They initially requested assistance from Washington State Patrol, but WSP couldn’t respond due to staffing challenges according to the WSP.
