Readers, and the Discover Ferndale publisher, woke Saturday morning to discover the website had seemingly vanished from the Internet.
Equipment located in Utah failed around midnight Friday night causing several websites to go offline, including Discover Ferndale. The equipment supported a storage-area network (SAN) where all the website files were located.
Fortunately, it was a quiet day around Ferndale and being unable to access the website made for the first “day off” in a couple years for me.
The website sprang back to life about 11pm Saturday evening with everything intact. Different website hosting arrangements are being considered to avoid similar outages in the future.
