UPDATED: Grandview Road closed due to residential fire

Ferndale , Wash. — First responders were dispatched to a report of a residential fire in the 2300 block of Grandview Road about 5pm today, November 3rd.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from all sides and flames from the roof.

As of 5:30pm, Grandview Road was closed between Vista Drive and Salashan Parkway while fire fighters battled the fire.

Whatcom County Fire District 7 Division Chief Ben Boyko said there was no one inside the residence when the fire broke out and, as of 6:30pm, there had been no injuries to firefighters. He added that the Grandview Road closure would need to continue for an extended time since their water source is a hydrant across the road from the residence. As of 6:30pm, Boyko said firefighters were “working our way through the house now.”

WSDOT reported the road was reopened at 9:15pm.
