Gardner announces departure from Ferndale High School

Ferndale High School Principal Jeff Gardner announced today he has been hired as principal of Auburn High School in Auburn, Washington according to the Ferndale School District. He will be leaving Ferndale at the end of this school year.

Gardner took over as FHS principal, replacing Aaron Kombol, for the 2015-16 school year leaving the Sumner School District where he had been assistant principal at Bonney Lake High School.

In response to the news, the District announced it is accepting applications for the position of Ferndale High School principal and has established the following schedule for filling the position:

* The district has posted the position on its employment webpage
* A meeting with high school department heads will be held next week
* The first review of applications will take place May 30th
* Interviews will be held June 6th.
* A community forum of the top candidates is scheduled for June 8th
* A second round of interviews is scheduled for June 9th

The District anticipates making a hiring decision no later than the second week of June.

In 2015, then Ferndale High School Principal Aaron Kombol announced he was taking a two-year leave of absence to accept a principal position abroad in Saudi Arabia. At that time it was expected he would return after the 2 years but not necessarily to the same position at the high school.
