About 1pm on Friday, March 11th, a Ferndale Police officer pulled over a vehicle in the area of the “Y” at Enterprise Road and Portal Way. According to the officer’s radio conversation with What-Comm dispatch, soon after being pulled over two individuals attempted to elude him by leaving their vehicle and running into the Ferndale Mobile Home Park (previously known as Dunkin’s).
Another Ferndale Police officer showed up soon after and one of the two individuals was quickly taken into custody. As they continued looking for the other individual, Whatcom County Sheriff deputies, Bellingham Police officers and Washington State Patrol troopers showed up to assist.
About 30 minutes later, the second subject was located nearby and also taken into custody.
Travis Charles Watson, age 25, and Cody William Wozniak, age 24, were subsequently booked at the Whatcom County Jail. Watson was booked for 1st degree criminal impersonation, shoplifting, 3rd degree driving while license suspended and disorderly conduct. Wozniak was booked for probation/parole violation, possession of stolen property, reckless driving, obstructing a police officer and 3rd degree driving while license suspended. Both remained in custody as of Monday morning according to jail records.
